Instructor Notes:

You'll see a handful of questions that are just math calculations.  The exam likes to make you calculate and convert. ​

Conversions You Should Know

  • Inches / 12 = Feet

example: 8 inches / 12 = 0.67 feet
 

  • Cubic Feet / 27 = Cubic Yards

example: Excavation 10' wide x 5' deep x 20' feet long
= 1,000 Cubic Feet / 27 = 37 Cubic Yards (bank)

  • Pounds / 2000 = Tons
     

  • 5,280 Feet in a Mile
     

  • ​43,560 SF in an Acre

Slope = Rise / Run
Run = Rise / Slope

Rise = Slope x Run

Concrete Conversions You Should Know​

  • Cubic Feet / 27 = Cubic Yards

example: A footer 2' wide x 1' tall x 200' feet long
= 400 Cubic Feet / 27 = 14.8 Cubic Yards
