DBPR CILB Contractor Notice
The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (Department) sends this notice to remind Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB) licensed contractors that it is against the law to perform any act which assists a person or entity in engaging in the prohibited uncertified and unregistered practice of contracting, which includes obtaining permits on behalf of unlicensed individuals. Any such act constitutes aiding and assisting unlicensed activity under section 489.129, F.S.

Enforcement Action
The Department is dedicated to protecting the public by combatting unlicensed contractor activity and enforcement action will be brought against those who violate the law under the jurisdiction of the CILB pursuant to chapter 489, F.S.
Specifically, Rule 61G4-17.001(1)(d), F.A.C., provides the CILB’s disciplinary guidelines per violation of section 489.129(1)(d), F.S. and the penalty ranges are provided below:
VIOLATION - (d) Section 489.129(1)(d), F.S.: Assisting unlicensed person to evade provision of Chapter 489, F.S.
MINIMUM - $5,000 fine/violation and probation or suspension.
MAXIMUM - $10,000 fine/violation and probation, suspension or revocation.
